Every Wednesday in homerooms teachers will give a vocabulary word and its definition to students. Use the word correctly in a sentence or demonstrate the word in an illustration and turn it in Thursday during lunch period for a chance to win a gift card. The best entry each week will be announced Friday and win a $10 Target gift card!
This week’s word is: Adversity [ad-vur-si-tee] — (n) misfortune, unfavorable turn of events.
Congratulations to Hayley Mongoy (’17) for winning with her sentence: “In a time of adversity, she revealed her true malevolent personality.”
Isabel Hanewicz is a senior at Robinson High School and is the editor-in-chief of RHStoday. She was named the 2014 Emerging Young Journalist of the Year for the state of Florida. Walking without tripping is not one of her talents, so please do not give her any breakable objects. She is also known to slow down computers in the journalism room because she does not like to close tabs (32 tabs, to be exact). When she’s not in the journalism room, she’s probably out running for Robinson’s cross country or track teams, where she is the captain. Follow her on Twitter @isabelhanewicz and @hanewiczphotos
