In the Robinson High School Orchestra, seven students got accepted into the All-County orchestra. As the name implies, the All-County Orchestra is an orchestra composed of the most skilled orchestra students in the county.
“All-County is a really great experience. I’ve done it twice before and I’m really excited to be doing it again,” said Kyle Johnson (’17), who plays bass.
In order to be accepted into the orchestra, the students were required to learn and play an excerpt and also be able to play a scale. They auditioned and only the best were chosen. At Robinson, the students who were accepted were Maria Kuge (’16), Claire Chen (’16), Joshua Cruz (’16), Kevin Chen (’16), Kyle Johnson, Atlas Miller (’14), and Allison Cruz (’14). In addition to being part of the Orchestra, Kyle Johnson is the principal bassist, which means that he is the best of all of the bass players.
“I always thought it would be really cool to be first chair,” said Johnson. “Now I am.”
Once the students are accept into the All-County Orchestra, they join to rehearse together for three days before the final concert, which takes place on January 25th.
