Virgil Abloh: A Name to Remember

Men’s fashion designer, Virgil Abloh, passes away from a private battle with cancer.

On Nov. 28, LVMH Louis Vuitton and the Off-White label announced the passing of the beloved Virgil Abloh.

Abloh was named the artistic director of the men’s fashion line of Louis Vuitton in 2018 and kept that title until his passing. Along with being an artistic director for Louis Vuitton, he was also the founder of and CEO of the streetwear fashion company Off-White.

Reportedly having passed away from a private battle from cancer, Abloh was one of the most renowned fashion designers and was known for blurring the lines between streetwear and high fashion. Essentially creating the fashion culture for the young people of this generation. Deservingly, Abloh was nominated for Menswear Designer of The Year in 2019.

Abloh was loved by many and left behind a wife, Shannon Sundberg along with two kids, Grey and Lowe Abloh. Sundberg and Abloh met in high school and after being together for ten years they got engaged.

Many people and celebrities were heartbroken to hear the news of his passing. People like Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, Tyler The Creator, Hailey Bieber and more took to Instagram and Twitter to share happy memories and photos of them and Abloh.

In an Instagram post, Model, Hailey Bieber said “I will never be able to fully express how grateful I am to have known and worked with him, from walking on his runways to having him design my wedding dress and all the other amazing moments in between…”.

Many people have been posting pictures with him with the words “Virgil Was Here”. They have even been writing it on their Off-White shoes in remembrance of a precious soul that will never be forgotten for years to come.
