Tuesday night featured a classic pitcher’s duel as Tommy Craparo (’15) got the start for the Knights against Strawberry Crest, who sent Mark Moclair (’15) to the mound. In the end, it was the Chargers who walked away with a 1-0 victory.

Craparo hurled a complete game, allowing one unearned run on five and a hit by pitch while striking out four. On almost any other night, he would’ve walked away with the victory. However, Moclair was just as solid on this night. He also tossed a complete game, allowing no runs on just one hit, three walks and a hit by pitch while striking out seven. The right-hander carried a no-hitter into the sixth before allowing his only hit, an infield single by Nathan Doherty (’15), with two outs.

“Defense and pitching were great tonight,” said Craparo. “Just a great outing by the other guy who made it hard on us. Sometimes you just tip your cap.”

After escaping some trouble in the first three innings, Craparo retired six straight batters until the sixth, when the leadoff batter reached on an error. The runner came around to score two batters later on an RBI single by Moclair himself.

The Knights had chances of their own, putting a runner on base in every inning except the second and seventh. They stranded a runner at third in both the fourth and fifth innings and had a runner thrown out at home to end the sixth.

The loss drops Robinson to 12-7 on the year while Strawberry Crest improves to 14-8. The Knights will next take the field on Friday night for senior night against Wharton. First pitch is scheduled for 7.
