Spring Sports Update: 2/21-2/26

Baseball

The Knights were handed their first loss of the season on Tuesday night, falling 4-3 against Jesuit (6-0). When Robinson pushed a run across in the bottom of the first, it was the first given up by the Tigers this season. The Knights rebounded on Thursday with a 17-1 win at Blake, improving their district record to 4-1 and their overall record to 5-1. They host Alonso (3-3) on Saturday.

Softball

The Lady Knights won their fourth straight game on Thursday at Blake. After the 20-2 win, Robinson’s district record stands at 4-0. They host Alonso (5-3) on Saturday.

Boys Lacrosse

The Knights’ 10-1 loss Monday at Sickles was their 10th straight dating back to last season. Friday at home against Alonso, the Knights seem poised to take their first win of the 2016 season but lost to the Ravens 6-5 with only seconds remaining in double overtime. The Knights will look for a win Tuesday at home against Jefferson, with the game scheduled to start at 7 p.m.

Girls Lacrosse

The Lady Knights improved to 4-2 this week after 12-4 win on Monday at Sickles and a 14-4 win against Alonso Friday at home. Robinson’s next game is Tuesday at home against Jefferson at 5 p.m.

Boys Tennis

The Knights (5-1) picked up a 5-2 win Monday against Strawberry Crest before beating Wharton by a score of 5-2 on Thursday. Their next match is Tuesday at Middleton.

Girls Tennis

Robinson remains undefeated (6-0) after two wins this week, a 7-0 win on Monday over Strawberry Crest and 6-1 Thursday against Wharton. The team’s next match is Tuesday against Middleton.

Boys Track

Boys track traveled to Armwood Tuesday for a quad meet against Armwood, Middleton and Bloomingdale, placing third with 59 points. Notable finishers include Almosse Titi (’18) who won discus with a 124-4.5 and Chris Herring (’17) who won triple jump with a 41-6. The team’s next meet is against Leto and Steinbrenner at Steinbrenner on Monday, Feb. 29.

Girls Track

Girls track traveled to Armwood Tuesday for a quad meet against Armwood, Middleton and Bloomingdale, winning the meet with 131 points. Notable finishes include Claire Casper (’17), who won pole vault with a 8-4; Jennifer Laux (’17), who won high jump with a 4-0; the 4×800 relay, which placed first in 10:38.74; the 4×100 relay, which placed first with a 54.18; Vivika Sheppard (’18), who placed first in the 800 with a 2:32.47 and Paulina Narvaez (’16), who placed first in the 3200 with a 13:59.95. The team’s next meet is against Leto and Steinbrenner at Steinbrenner on Monday, Feb. 29.
